16 New Openings In The South Bay To Know About

August has brought a fresh batch of reasons to get out and explore the South Bay. This month’s openings and new arrivals stretch from Hermosa Beach to Gardena, with everything from sushi bars and tasting menus to pie, coffee, jewelry, wellness, retail, and a few new collaborations.

Whether you are looking for your next dinner reservation, a new neighborhood coffee stop, or simply an excuse to wander somewhere new, here are the August South Bay openings to know about right now.

New Food and Drink Spots Around the South Bay

Sushi Bar, Hermosa Beach

Hermosa Beach has a new option for sushi lovers with Sushi Bar, bringing an intimate sushi experience to the neighborhood. The concept centers on a more focused, chef-driven meal, making it a welcome addition for anyone looking to trade a casual roll order for something a little more curated.

It is another sign that Hermosa Beach’s dining scene continues to stretch beyond the usual beach-town staples.

Kinkan, Hermosa Beach

Kinkan Market is bringing Chef Nan Yimcharoen’s Thai-Japanese culinary style to a new Hermosa Beach takeaway concept. Inspired by Japanese fish markets and everyday food culture, Kinkan Market focuses on premium Japanese bento, seasonal seafood, handcrafted dishes, and Japanese pantry staples.

Pre-orders began August 1, with pickup available Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.!

Vin Folk Tasting Menu, Hermosa Beach

Vin Folk in Hermosa Beach is introducing a more curated tasting menu experience at its family-run neighborhood bistro. The chef-driven menu highlights the restaurant’s globally inspired approach, with dishes that move from snacks and seafood to pasta, meat, and dessert.

For South Bay diners, the tasting menu is a chance to experience Vin Folk’s food as a full, coursed-out dinner rather than simply ordering a la carte, a natural fit for a date night or special evening in Hermosa.

Winston Pies, Manhattan Beach

Pie fans now have another reason to head to Manhattan Beach. Winston Pies has arrived with its lineup of handcrafted sweet and savory pies, bringing a familiar Los Angeles favorite closer to the coast.

From classic fruit pies to richer, more indulgent options, this is the kind of opening that works whether you need to bring dessert somewhere or simply want an excuse to pick up a slice for yourself.

Manhattan Beach Farmers Market, Manhattan Beach

The new Manhattan Village Farmers Market launched this summer at Manhattan Village, bringing a weekly Thursday market to the South Bay. Located next to Anthropologie, the market features locally grown fruits and vegetables, seasonal flowers, plants, local honey, handcrafted goods, and other artisan products from local farmers and vendors. It runs every Thursday from 2–7 p.m., with free parking available.

It is an easy midweek stop for picking up something fresh, browsing local makers, and adding a little more of a farmers-market feel to your Manhattan Beach shopping run.

Blum Vinoteca, El Segundo

Blum Vinoteca is the new wine bar extension of Blum Wine & Flowers in El Segundo, turning the shop’s curated natural-wine selection into a spot where you can actually stay awhile. The Vinoteca serves small-production, natural and organic-focused wines by the glass and bottle, alongside small bites designed for pairing. Blum’s wine program emphasizes minimal-intervention bottles from independent producers, so expect a rotating selection that leans more discovery-driven than a traditional wine bar.

It is essentially wine, flowers, and a few snacks in one very pretty stop, ideal for a casual glass after work, a date-night detour, or browsing the shop before settling in for a pour.

Graze Craze, Redondo Beach

For those who believe a good cheese board can count as a full meal, Graze Craze is a new name to know. The concept specializes in grazing boards and boxes filled with combinations of meats, cheeses, fruits, crackers, and other shareable bites.

It is especially convenient for beach days, parties, and office gatherings, and even when you want a mini charcuterie board all to yourself!

La Cha x The Bowl, Torrance

La Cha x The Bowl brings together handcrafted drinks and Korean-inspired comfort food under one roof. Born in Torrance, the concept goes beyond boba with a menu that includes specialty matcha drinks, milk teas, its popular Biscoff and Ube series, plus rice bowls and savory dishes. The Torrance location also offers indoor and outdoor patio seating, making it an easy stop for anything from a quick drink to a casual meal.

Chroma Kava Bar, Redondo Beach

Redondo Beach has a new place to slow down with the arrival of Chroma Kava Bar. The space offers a different kind of social setting centered around kava and other non-alcoholic beverages.

For locals looking for an alternative to the traditional coffee shop or bar scene, Chroma brings something distinctly different to the area.

Chicas Tacos x The Deck, Hermosa Beach

Beach views and tacos are an easy combination, and Chicas Tacos x The Deck is bringing the two together in Hermosa Beach. The collaboration gives locals another casual option for grabbing tacos near the water.

Whether you are stopping by after a beach day or meeting friends for a yummy meal, this is the kind of South Bay pairing that makes plenty of sense.

Feb Coffee, Gardena

Gardena’s coffee scene continues to grow with the arrival of Feb Coffee. The new cafe gives locals another place to grab their daily coffee while also providing a fresh neighborhood spot to spend some time.

For South Bay coffee fans who are always looking beyond the usual chains, Gardena is becoming an increasingly interesting area to explore.

Onki, Torrance

Onki is the first U.S. restaurant from Korean celebrity chef Lee Won-il, bringing a refined take on Korean comfort food to Torrance. The menu is intentionally focused, with shareable dishes like gamjatang, a bubbling pork neck bone stew with potatoes and cabbage, and Onki galbi with mashed potatoes and soy-marinated seafood. The standout is the gamjatang, which can be finished with fried rice cooked in the remaining broth.

For South Bay diners, Onki is less about an expansive Korean menu and more about a handful of signature dishes designed to share, making it a particularly good pick for a group dinner.

New Shopping and Wellness Stops

Ounce of Salt Jewelry, Manhattan Beach

Manhattan Beach shoppers have a new place to browse with Ounce of Salt Jewelry. The brand brings its collection of jewelry to the area, offering pieces designed for everyday wear as well as more gift-worthy occasions.

It is a fitting addition to the local shopping scene and an easy stop to add to a day spent wandering around downtown Manhattan Beach.

Head Spa_En, Hermosa Beach

Self-care is getting a little more specialized in Hermosa Beach with Head Spa_En. The new wellness destination focuses on scalp and head spa treatments, creating an experience that goes beyond the standard salon appointment.

For anyone who has spent too much time staring at a screen, sitting in traffic, or generally carrying stress in their shoulders, this may be one of August’s more relaxing openings.

Velvet by Graham & Spencer, Manhattan Beach

Fashion brand Velvet by Graham & Spencer has arrived in the South Bay shopping landscape, bringing its signature California-inspired style to the area. Known for elevated basics and easy pieces designed to fit into everyday wardrobes, the brand is a natural match for coastal living.

For locals looking to refresh their closet without heading to Los Angeles, it is another useful addition to the local retail lineup.

A Historic South Bay Space Gets a New Chapter

Redondo Beach Historic Library Reopens as an All-Seasons Venue

One of the more unique August developments is the reopening of the Redondo Beach Historic Library, now entering a new chapter as an all-seasons venue.

The historic space adds another setting for gatherings, celebrations, and community events while preserving a piece of Redondo Beach history. It is always exciting to see an existing landmark find a new purpose, especially when that new use gives more people a reason to experience the building.

August Is Giving South Bay Locals Plenty to Explore

From a new sushi experience in Hermosa Beach and handcrafted pies in Manhattan Beach to coffee in Gardena and wellness experiences by the beach, August brought so much more to the South Bay.

A weekend trip to Hermosa Beach can now include sushi, tacos, a tasting menu, or a head spa appointment. Manhattan Beach has new pie, jewelry, and a farmers market to explore, while Torrance, El Segundo, Gardena, and Redondo Beach are adding even more reasons to venture beyond your usual neighborhood.

So if your saved list of South Bay places is starting to get a little too short, August has officially solved that problem.
