If you’ve spent enough mornings in the South Bay, chances are you know Martha’s. The Hermosa Beach breakfast institution has been serving up coffee, brunch, and its signature beach-town energy since 1984. Now, the longtime local favorite is crossing the border into Redondo Beach with a new second location in Riviera Village.
Martha’s Redondo Beach is officially open, bringing the familiar Martha’s lineup to a much larger space and adding something the original location doesn’t have: dinner.
So while you can still stop in for your usual breakfast burrito and coffee, the new Martha’s is making a case for being an all-day Riviera Village hangout.
Martha’s Brings Its Hermosa Roots to Riviera Village
The new location is a pretty natural fit for Martha’s. The restaurant has been part of the South Bay dining scene for more than four decades, and the move into Riviera Village keeps it close to the beach crowd and neighborhood regulars that helped make the original a staple.
The restaurant offers two levels, outdoor seating and space for private events, making it more than just a second spot to grab breakfast. And if you’re wondering whether the Redondo location is simply a copy-and-paste of the Hermosa restaurant, the answer is not quite.
Breakfast and Brunch Are Still the Main Event
Martha’s built its reputation around breakfast and brunch, and that isn’t changing at the Redondo location. The restaurant’s familiar daytime menu includes longtime favorites like the Breakfast Burrito and Top Dish White Corn Scramble, along with the kind of classic breakfast plates that make Martha’s an easy weekend go-to.
Martha’s is also known for its coffee-and-cocktail combination, so whether you’re starting the morning with a specialty coffee or turning breakfast into a proper South Bay brunch with a mimosa, the vibe stays very much Martha’s.
Redondo Martha’s Goes Beyond Brunch
The biggest difference between the two locations is what happens after 3 p.m.
Martha’s Redondo Beach stays open for dinner from 5 to 9 p.m., giving the brand a new evening chapter. The dinner menu is led by Chef Johnny DeVivo and expands the restaurant beyond its traditional breakfast-and-lunch identity.
The menu leans into approachable American comfort food, with dishes including burgers, chicken, ribs, steak, pasta, and short ribs. It’s a little more dinner-forward than what regulars may be used to from Martha’s, while still keeping the neighborhood feel that makes the brand work in the first place.
For South Bay locals, that means Martha’s can now cover a lot more of the day: coffee in the morning, brunch with friends, lunch after a beach walk, and dinner when you don’t feel like heading far from the Village.
A New Spot for Riviera Village Events
Another major addition at the Redondo Beach location is its event space.
Martha’s is offering private dining and larger events for everything from group brunches and corporate gatherings to cocktail parties, birthdays, baby showers, and bridal showers. The upstairs space gives the restaurant room to host celebrations in a way the smaller Hermosa location simply can’t.
That could make the new Martha’s especially useful for South Bay gatherings where you want something more relaxed than a traditional event venue but still want a full-service restaurant setting.
A New Chapter for a South Bay Classic
Martha’s opening in Redondo Beach feels less like a brand-new restaurant arriving in the South Bay and more like a familiar neighborhood name getting a new address. The Hermosa location remains the original, the beachside institution that has been part of the community since 1984, while the Riviera Village location gives Martha’s more room to expand what the restaurant can be.
For Redondo locals, the appeal is pretty straightforward: a longtime South Bay breakfast favorite is now closer, with more space, outdoor dining, and an evening menu to boot. So if Martha’s has been part of your weekend rotation for years, you now have another option. And if you’ve somehow never made the Hermosa trip, Riviera Village might be your excuse to finally see what all the brunch talk is about.
Martha’s Redondo Beach is located at 1810 S. Catalina Avenue in Riviera Village. Breakfast and lunch are served daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with dinner from 5 to 9 p.m.
