Chicas Tacos Brings Its Award Winning Tacos to The Deck in Hermosa Beach

There’s a new taco stop on The Strand, and this one comes with a pretty ideal view. Chicas Tacos is now open at The Deck in Hermosa Beach, bringing the Los Angeles taco shop’s fresh, California-minded take on Mexican street food to the South Bay.

Located at 1272 The Strand, the new Chicas Tacos is tucked into The Deck and puts the brand’s tacos, burritos, bowls and plant-based options just steps from the sand. The Hermosa location officially opened in August, giving beachgoers a new option for a post-surf lunch, casual Strand dinner, or taco run with an ocean view.

From Los Angeles to the South Bay

Chicas Tacos started in Los Angeles in 2016 with a straightforward idea: take the Southern California street tacos people already love and make them with fresh, high-quality ingredients.

Founded by Chef Eduardo Ruiz, the brand describes its approach as “A Better Taco,” with an emphasis on bold but balanced flavors, fresh ingredients, and Mexican traditions. Chicas also works with partners including La Princesita for its hand-pressed corn tortillas.

Now, that same approach has made its way south to Hermosa Beach.

What to Order at Chicas Tacos Hermosa Beach

The menu gives you plenty of room to mix and match depending on your taco mood. The Carne Asada Taco comes with steak, cheese, guacamole, molcajete salsa, onion, and cilantro, while the Slow Braised Steak Taco keeps things simple with braised beef, salsa verde, radish, scallion, and cilantro.

Seafood fans can go for the Beer Battered Fish Taco, made with crispy beer-battered fish, Caesar salad, morita salsa, croutons and Parmesan. There’s also a Shrimp Taco with marinated shrimp, shaved cabbage, morita aioli and pickled red onion.

And yes, there are plenty of options for plant-based eaters. Chicas’ Crispy Plant-Based Taco uses seasoned plant-based beef on a crispy corn shell, while the Jackfruit Taco pairs marinated jackfruit with pico de gallo, avocado and cilantro.

If you’re coming hungry, the menu goes beyond tacos with burritos, bowls, quesadillas, nachos, and other Mexican-inspired favorites. The Market Burrito comes wrapped in a hand-pressed flour tortilla with your choice of protein, rice, beans, cheese, queso, house salsa, and avocado salsa.

A Beach-Day-Friendly Addition to The Deck

The location is arguably half the fun. Chicas Tacos is now part of The Deck, right along the Hermosa Beach Strand, making it easy to pair lunch or dinner with a walk, bike ride, or a few hours by the water.

The new location also expands the brand’s menu for its beach-town audience. In addition to its classic tacos, the Hermosa Beach location features plant-based options, bowls, burritos, and kid-friendly bean-and-cheese burritos. Weekend mornings also bring breakfast items to the menu, including options like a Steak & Eggs Taco and Breakfast Burrito.

Basically, you now have another reason to take the long way down the Strand!
