The Burger Loved by Generations in the South Bay
The story of The Bull Pen Burger is really a story about the South Bay itself. For almost 80 years, The Bull Pen has been a Redondo Beach institution. Family-owned since 1948, this iconic restaurant has been serving its famous Bull Pen Burger to generations of South Bay families, creating memories that have lasted a lifetime.
Cliff Miner opened the restaurant with the burger and used his own homemade potato bun recipe that he made daily. The burger is simple, but spectacular and includes mayo, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, and a choice of cheese. You can also make different variations of it, like adding onions or bacon, but people know exactly what to expect from the burger itself. Pair it with fries or onion rings, and it makes the perfect dinner.
Years ago, the burger was only sold at lunch and after 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. However, because of its popularity, it is now offered anytime!
A Must-Try South Bay Classic
From grandparents to parents to kids, it’s the kind of place that has been passed down through generations. While so much has changed over the years, The Bull Pen’s commitment to great food and warm hospitality has remained the same.
Nearly eight decades later, they’re still serving their famous burger, along with prime rib, steaks, and seafood, to loyal locals and first-time visitors alike.
